Innovation can help our region STEAM ahead.
Advancing Innovative ideas has always been a cornerstone of America’s prosperity. Through STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art/Design, and Mathematics) learning opportunities, many youth discover careers they may have not thought about, that can be creative and fun paths leading to meaningful and profitable employment.
In addition to STEAM-related knowledge, skills and ideas, 21st century employers repeatedly voice the need for highly qualified and skilled workers with solid problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity skills along with the ability to work well with others. These are all areas focused on in Heartland Foundation’s emPowerU programs including those featuring Lego® Robotics, Bio Bus Physics and Kitchen Chemistry, movie-making, fun science experiments, design forums, and more.

LEGO Build: Problem Solvers Camps
Our Lego Build camps enables students to work as young scientists, engineers, and designers by providing them with the settings, tools, and activities that promote engineering design, science and mathematics. Students are encouraged to involve themselves in real world investigations and problem solving. They make assumptions and predictions. They design and make models and then observe the behaviors of these models; they reflect and redesign, and then record and present their findings.
