Think Ahead Forum
Our goal is to preserve and grow what is great about our rural region starting with educational attainment and a quality workforce. Participants will head home with ideas and tangible action items that they can, together with others, implement to build on their existing community assets. Through collaboration and relationships built at this regional forum, individuals and communities can unite to create opportunities for all ages that may not be possible on their own.
The 2017 Think Ahead Forum was held on Friday, September 29, 2017.
Convening the region around issues that matter the most
Since 1994, Heartland Foundation has held regional planning forums and informative and celebratory summits focused on improving the health, economic vitality, and quality of life for our region. We have learned that when diverse representatives – businesses, educators, health providers, the faith community, government officials, social service providers, youth, neighbors and friends – come together, all can more effectively address the many challenges we face today. We have also learned that educational attainment and empowerment are the key indicators impacting all other drivers that define a thriving region, the Think Ahead Forum takes the best elements from the regional gatherings previously held and highlights the importance of thinking ahead.
“This Forum is a call to action for community members to get involved. Our young people, along with their parents and caregivers, need to know how much the region’s businesses, organizations, elected officials, educators, and community members at large care about their education and well-being,” said Judith Sabbert, president of Heartland Foundation. “We recognize they are the decision-makers of our future and want to do all we can to help them learn what they need to be successful in building a more thriving regional community.”
