Starting in 2005, emPower me is a partnership among the Buchanan
County Juvenile Office, Northwest Missouri State University, and
the Foundation. Youthful status offenders participate in an intensive
12-week program, which helps these at-risk kids learn to make positive
choices that affect their lives and their community. They participate
in experiential learning activities and work together as a Public
Achievement group to:
- Help them understand their personal strengths and learn to
build upon them
- See the impact they have on the world around them
- Give them a voice to impact positive change over the issues
that are important to them
