The objective is to promote community capacity building to improve
the health and quality of life for our region. Regional Planning Forums
use collaborative approaches to address livability issues and promote
community building. Participants spend the day developing region-wide
strategies that will impact the region's future.
It has become evident that when diverse representatives - businesses,
educators, health providers, the faith community, government officials,
social service providers, youth, neighbors and friends - come
together, all can more effectively address the many challenges
we face today. The region has committed to working on several
key issues: a preschool, 20 education council, regional technology infrastructure,
and workforce education. Plans for 2008 include a regional forum to address the isue of poverty.
